Conclusion
In conclusion, Hannah More, was one of the writers whose writing focused on educating children and religion. Most of her childrens stories had a moral behind them with the intention of children learning the tensions between classes, the need to educate the poor, and the moral obligation for the wealthy to help the poor. She was a firm believer in woman becoming independant and working, something that she believed young girls should be taught much more then vanity and social classes. We can see in much of her writing how she was influenced by concerns happening in her own country and her eagerness to educate the poor to help get out of this social status. By encouraging children to read, the poor would have better opportunities to grow and obtain employment. Even though More was not critcized well, and children were banned from these cheap repositories her intentions were well. Her concern was her country and the future for the children of the lower class.
Her Sunday schools were a way of her expressing her concern and going against those who thought she just wanted to corrupt their children's minds. Thru these cheap repositories she hoped that the poor could better their conditions being one of the first educational pieces for children.
